MONTGOMERY, Alabama – Halcyon Elementary School students, faculty and parents gathered today, the last day of school for Montgomery County schools, to dedicate a newly planted magnolia tree in remembrance of the Korean school children who were lost in the ferry disaster in South Korea on April 16, 2014.

몽고메리, 앨라배마- 헬시온 초등학교 학생들과 교직원, 학부모들은 몽고메리 카운티 학교들의 마지막 수업일인 오늘, 2014년 4월 16일 한국의 여객선 참사에서 희생된 한국 학생들을 추모하며 새로 심은 목련나무를 헌정하기 위해 모였다.

Halcyon has a large Korean student population and even hosts a Korean Saturday School on campus. Many families surrounding the school still grieve for family and friends in their native country.

헬시온 초등학교에는 한국인 학생 수가 많아서 교내에 한국어 토요 학교까지 개설될 정도다. 학교 주변의 많은 가족들은 아직도 고국의 가족과 친구들을 위해 슬퍼하고 있다.

According to MPS officials, students at Halcyon and other Montgomery Public Schools prepared nearly 300 handmade cards and letters written to the students of Danwon High School in Korea. The items will be sent to the school through the Korean Consulate in Atlanta, Ga.

몽고메리 공립학교 관계자에 따르면, 헬시온과 다른 몽고메리 공립학교들은 한국의 단원고등학교 학생들에게 보내는 약 300장의 손으로 만든 카드와 편지를 준비했다. 이 편지들은 조지아주 애틀랜타의 한국영사관을 통해 단원고에 전달된다.
